PCS union members within Border Force are due to strike in December as part of an ongoing dispute with the UK Government. Border force staff are seeking better pay and pension terms, alongside the safeguarding of jobs.
Border Force staff are responsible for immigration and customs controls at UK airports and seaports. The UK Government said it has plans in place to keep essential services running and to minimise disruption.
PCS general secretary Mark Serwotka said: "PCS members are angry. They helped to keep this country running during the pandemic, and in return, have been treated appallingly by this government. With inflation now at 11.1%, it is inconceivable that they are expected to cope with yet another real terms pay cut."
The UK Government spokesman replied to calls by the union for increased pay with a statement outlining "the PCS union's demands would cost an unaffordable £2.4bn".
