The infamous container ship, the Ever Given, which was stuck in the Suez Canal for six days in late March, has finally docked in Rotterdam.
The Ever Given, one of the world's largest container ships at 400-metres (1,312-foot), which is carrying 18,300 containers, became stuck in the Suez Canal in high winds on March 23.
The Suez Canal Authority announced on 7 July it had reached an agreement with owners Shoei Kisen Kaisha on compensation, which had stopped the ship from departing for Rotterdam.
Goods in the Ever Given's 18,300 containers have an estimated value of $775m, but many of them will hold fruit and vegetables which will have to be destroyed as they have gone out of date, or goods sold on if their original buyer no longer wanted them.
The backlog from the ship's delay has led to a leap in shipping rates and sent the cost of containers soaring to nearly $15,000.
The ship is expected to leave Rotterdam shortly, where it will then transit to Felixstowe to offload her UK cargoes, arriving on August 3.
