  • Apply for a Customs Grant
The Customs Grant Scheme has been set up to help traders prepare for new customs arrangements, which will commence when the transition period ends at the turn of the year.

The number of customs declarations is likely to increase significantly when the UK finally leaves the EU.

It is important to note that declarations will be required whether a deal is reached or not.

This is one of the myths of the current UK/EU trade negotiation. Whatever the outcome, it’s expected that it will be necessary to submit import and export declarations. This will be the case even if a tariff-free deal is agreed – that outcome would only result in import duties not applying to relevant goods.

It is hoped that the scheme will help businesses to improve their own understanding of customs formalities.

What grants are available through the grant scheme?

There are three different types of grant available through the Customs Grant Scheme:

  1. Grants for Trader Training

  2. Grants for IT, Training and Recruitment

  3. Grants for a Co-Funded Training Project.
