Liverpool2 deep water container terminal has just received six specialist cantilever rail-mounted gantry cranes from China, less than one month before the grand opening next month.
The latest delivery from the Chinese manufacturer ZPMC, arrived Thursday 6th of October.
The cantilever rail-mounted gantry (CMRG) cranes will straddle storage areas 12 containers wide and six containers high on the quayside.
Peel Ports estimates the total investment to be worth in excess of £400m which includes £100m in equipment only.
The CMRG cranes are the missing piece of a major infrastructure jigsaw, giving Peel Ports the chance to formally open the container terminal next month, on the 4th of November with an inauguration ceremony.
